Socrates said “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”

Buddhist teacher Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche said, “In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, in the expert’s mind there are few.”

Anonymous said, “Unless your name is Google, stop acting like you freaking know everything.”

The gist of all this wisdom? Expert mind is scary.

The minute you talk to someone who acts like he or she definitively know things, run.

The world around us is constantly changing. Things are uncertain. Life, technology, problems, solutions…they are all in flux.

People who bring a curious, beginner’s mind to what they do are most valuable. They poke holes. They see new things. They ask themselves “Is what I knew yesterday still applicable today?”

People who know everything are rigid. They cling to what they think they know.

It’s your choice? Are you an expert or a beginner?
